I downloaded a copy to see that the game is all about. The rulebook comes in just under 300 pages with beautiful full color artwork throughout, a sharp layout, and an attractive price. Right now you can pay whatever price you feel the book is worth. I don’t have a ton of time to play RPGs lately, but I did take a look through the book. Here’s what I’ve found:

Space Hulk re-release
Game Workshop just announced a re-release for Space Hulk about an hour ago. Space Hulk is an iconic 2 player game that pits the tough-as-nail Space Marine Terminator in tactical dreadnought armour against the ravenous Tyranid Genestealer, part of the Tyranid vanguard on a hulking shipwreck.
Minor Games Workshop Space Marines Codex FAQ update
GW released a minor FAQ today for the Space Marines codex, here.
It consists of replace the words “area terrain” with “battlefield terrain” for the Scout cluster mines.
The end.
Braiiiins! – A cooperative or competitive Zombie game.
The guys at Fire Squadron are at it again. Their awesome game, Black Market Warehouse, is in printing and they’ve launched Braiiiins! on Kickstarter. With 7 days left to go they need your help. You can back them here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firesquadron/braiiiins
Having played the game as part of the play testing crew I can say that this is a great game and well worth the nominal investment. If you like easy to play, but hard to master games or games that you can play 1 on 1 or in a larger setting (up to 6) then this is a game worth checking out.
Hobby Progress Update
Wow, it’s been a few months since I’ve been able to write an update. My apologies. My wife and I took a trip to the east coast, I finished out one job and then I changed jobs about 6 weeks ago. The last two months have been a whirlwind. I played about 5 games in all this time, 3 of which were a team tournament; more on that later. I guess, then, it was unavoidable that I got sick last week. Turns out it was a good stimulus for my hobbying.
Buy local – new game company “Fire Squadron”
I have two friends, Andy and Tracy, who have been talking about starting a game company as long as I’ve known them. Well, they’ve finally done it. Their Kickstarter was launched, and funded inside a few days. There is still time to get on board:

With 18 days left I expect they will unlock most, if not all of their stretch goals. At $15, the game is a steal. How do I know, I got to play test it before they launched their Kickstarter. This game is LUMP approved.
Tablewar Mini Case Review (part 1)
I purchased a Mark I Tablewar full size case over a year ago and it quickly became my go-to case for regular local transport of my army to games and tournaments. I like that I can put units onto small unit trays and then place the unit trays onto either my book shelf at home, or a shelf in the case for transport. It helps at tournaments to be able to deploy models quickly from my case without dealing with removing models with lots of pointy bits from foam.
When Doug and Todd launched their Kickstarter for the mini case I was the first to back it. I’m still not entirely sure what I’ll do with the mini case, since it is quite small, but I may use it for transporting models I’m painting or small skirmish armies.
Here’s the dog checking out the package. She smells something… Continue reading

Rumor: Three Tyranid Dataslates Incoming
Updated: 9:03 PM PT
Just an hour ago, Eddie, announced on the Games Workshop: Digital Editions Facebook page that we’ll be seeing 3 data slates for Tyranids incoming in the near future:
“We announced in this month’s issue of White Dwarf that, starting later this month, the first in a trilogy of new Tyranid Dataslates will be released. All three of these are going to have new datasheet formations for Tyranid armies to use, and if you’re a fan of Genestealers (I know i am, far to many games of Space Hulk in my teenage years), I think you’re going to like the first installment in the trilogy.”
Zone Mortalis Series (Part 1)
I’ve been aware of the Warhammer 40k-based game, Zone Mortalis, for about two years now. Zone Mortalis is a rule set created and maintained by Forge World and it reminds me of one of my all-time favorite games, Space Hulk. I would say that if you wanted to recreate the feel of Space Hulk using your existing models and rules, and play something other than Blood Angels or Genestealers then you want to try Zone Mortalis.
If you want to get straight to the meat and potatoes, so to speak, then the rules are freely published on the Forge World website here:
