I’m not sure why, but I’ve really been struggling with a paint scheme for my Tyranids. I don’t like to paint models the same as the book models. I like to find my inspiration elsewhere. I keep coming back to one image that really suits the mood and feel I want out of my nids. Here is the lictor that I think exemplifies what I’m after, or at least what I think I’m after..

A few models waiting to get assembled and painted. I decided to start spraying out a few test colors. Not sure how I feel about them… I used my new set of Badger Minitaire airbrush paint. I’m planning on doing a full review on the set, which comes at a great price, but ultimately let me down due to high gloss on many of the colors. Regardless, it was nice to quickly spray out a few colors to see if anything stuck. Tell me what you think?
I like the organic colors on the left and on the right is my homage to Hive Fleet Leviathan.
A different take on Leviathan, with tan flesh and an inverse color scheme.
More blues and purples. The blues just don’t capture the feeling of the lictor I posted above. I’ll have to keep working on that.
